What is Mini 54 Snap Bottom Three Piece?

Definition of the Lower Three Parts

A snap kit (like the Mini 54) usually consists of four main parts:

  • Cover Piece (Upper Piece): The metal cover that is visible from the outside and is for aesthetic purposes. (This is the only piece outside the "Lower Three Pieces")
  • Female Part (Socket): The inner part of the closing mechanism.
  • Male Part (Ball/Protrusion): The part that fits inside the female part and provides locking.
  • Leg/Trim (Reciprocal): The lower part, shaped like a ring with a rim, that secures the male or female part to the fabric.

The term VT2 Mini 54 Snap Bottom Three-Piece encompasses the remaining three components of this four-piece assembly, excluding the Cover Piece:

  • Female Part (Mini 54 Female)

  • Men's Piece (Mini 54 Men)
  • Leg/Cloth Part (Mini 54 Leg)

These three parts are the main mechanism that performs the function of fastening and locking the snap onto the fabric.

Why Are Only the "Bottom Three Pieces" Sold/Described?

In production and supply, these three parts are often listed as a separate set because:

  • Customization: Users (apparel manufacturers) may sometimes want to use a different Cover Piece (e.g., patterned, curved, hidden). While the Bottom Three Pieces remain standard, the Cover Piece can be modified to create different designs.

  • Technical Compatibility: This set fully complies with the technical dimensions of the VT2 Mini 54 system and works seamlessly with any Mini 54 Cover Part of the same system.

  • Hidden Snaps: In models using "hidden closures", these three parts of the snap that are not visible from the outside come to the fore.

Because these parts are part of the Mini 54 group, they are small in size (10 mm and under) and are used in thin and elegant products such as shirts, baby clothes and wallets.
